To qualify for a medical marijuana card in Florida, you must meet certain requirements beyond just having a qualifying condition: 

• Residency: You must be a permanent or seasonal Florida resident. Proof of residency is required, such as a Florida driver's license or state ID for permanent residents, or a lease agreement/utility bill for seasonal residents.

• Age: You must be 18 years or older. Minors can qualify with two physician approvals and the assistance of a parent or legal guardian.

• Qualifying Medical Condition: You must be diagnosed with at least one qualifying medical condition by a certified physician who has completed specific state training. The physician determines if medical marijuana is an appropriate treatment and enters your information into the Medical Marijuana Use Registry.

• Cancer

• Epilepsy

• Glaucoma

• HIV/AIDS

• Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

• Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

• Crohn's Disease

• Parkinson's Disease

• Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

• A terminal condition diagnosed by a physician other than the one issuing the certification.

• Chronic nonmalignant pain that is caused by or originates from a qualifying medical condition.

• Other conditions of the same kind or class, as determined by a qualified physician. 

After meeting these requirements, the application process involves

1. Doctor Certification: A qualified physician registers your information and recommendation in the Medical Marijuana Use Registry.

2. OMMU Application: You'll receive an email with login credentials for the registry website to complete your online application.

3. Submit Documentation & Fees: You'll submit required documents and pay the state's $75 application fee.

4. Await Approval:  Most approvals occur at your medical visit.
